Habitat St. Johns held two exciting events on September 6th and 7th, and we want to tell you about them. We had an open house on Friday 9/6, and we dedicated two homes on Saturday 9/7. The home dedications are so uplifting and emotional. Seeing the new homeowners entering the homes for the first time after cutting the ribbons gives you chills and makes you smile from ear to ear.
We held an open house at Volusia Woods on Friday, September 6th. We had a two-bedroom and three-bedroom home open from 10:00am – 4:00pm. The homes were open for anyone interested in learning more about the work we do and how they can be part of the Habitat St. Johns family, be that as a homeowner, donor, volunteer, advocate and/or friend. This was an opportunity to see inside the homes and get a feel for what we are building in St. Johns County, FL for hardworking, local families and individuals.
We dedicated two homes on September 7th. These very uplifting, happy home dedications are the best part of working for Habitat St. Johns. I have included some pictures of our homeowners (Fe and Antwanette) and some of their reactions at the home dedication. These are our newest Habitat St. Johns’ homeowners, and to say they are excited is an understatement. This home dedication is a prelude to their upcoming home closing.
The first three homes in Volusia Woods were sponsored by very generous donors. Thank you to The Raintree Restaurant, O.C. White’s Seafood and Spirits and Publix Charities for sponsoring the building of these three homes!
We want to thank some of our community & business partners including, Baker Distributing for donating all of the air conditioning systems, St. Augustine Kitchen and Bath for donating all of the kitchen and bathroom countertops, Memorial Presbyterian Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 7121, and Knights of Columbus St. John Paul II #16492 for donating the washing machines and dryers, the St. Johns County Board of Realtors for donating the microwaves and dishwashers, and Lowe’s for providing great pricing for most everything else we buy to complete the home.
Thank you to Everything Cool for staging the two homes for these two events.
A special thank you to Whirlpool for donating the refrigerators and ovens/stoves, Levolor Blinds for donating the bedroom and bathroom blinds, and Schneider for donating the electrical supplies for all Habitat for Humanity homes throughout the United States.

Habitat St. Johns’ Volusia Woods neighborhood, located near the circle along North Volusia Street, is also the beginning of a new strategic plan that will help accelerate the speed and building capacity of Habitat St. Johns from an average of six homes per year to thirty homes per year by 2028-29. Habitat St. Johns is replicating the model other Habitat Florida affiliates have successfully implemented to enable them to build over thirty homes each year to better meet the needs of the county’s workers and residents.
Volusia Woods is Habitat St. Johns’ fourth neighborhood in just over thirty years of operation and will consist of thirty-six homes when it is finished. Volusia Woods is located on N. Volusia Street near the roundabout on Aiken Street that connects to Four Mile Road. It is just a few blocks north of Canopy Oaks, the third Habitat St. Johns neighborhood completed in 2023.
We are so happy to have you as part of our Habitat St. Johns family.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to get involved further.
